I know many of you are aware by now that over the weekend a large tornado hit Jonesboro, Arkansas. Branch 1131 President, Barry Bode, immediately stepped up and began checking on carriers. Not only their physical conditions, but as well as property damage and any loss to our fellow sisters and brothers. One of Branch 1131 member's home was destroyed by the tornado that hit Jonesboro. I personally reached out to the member yesterday morning by phone.
Her personal vehicle was at the post office at the time of the storm and was completely destroyed along with her home. She is a very strong person. She moved to Arkansas after Hurricane Katrina displaced her from New Orleans and we need to be here for her and the family. She is currently staying with family in the area but this is why the NALC created the NALC Disaster Relief Foundation.
With the help of Barry Bode, her information has been submitted to the NALC Disaster Relief Foundation and the local branch is stepping up to help in many ways. I am asking for all of us to donate to the NALC Disaster Relief Foundation for this very reason either individually or at the branch level. You never know when you will need assistance and we need to be there for each other.
